Clever Board

Clever Communications Australia (ASX:CVA) is supported by a board comprising three non-executive directors and one executive director.

David Williams - Chairman & Non Executive Director

Mr Williams has more than 20 years experience in providing corporate advisory services.  Prior to establishing Kidder Williams, David was the Managing Director of Mariner Corporate Finance, Managing Director of Challenger Corporate Finance, Head of the Melbourne corporate finance office of SG Hambros, Head of M&A at ANZ McCaughan and Head of M&A at Arthur Andersen. 

David holds an Honours and Masters degree in Economics from La Trobe University, Melbourne.

Philip Powell - Non Executive Director

Mr Powell commenced working in investment banking in 1986 at Hambros Corporate Finance following 10 years industry experience with a listed public company, primarily in finance and administration roles.  Previously, he worked for 9 years with the Financial Consulting Division at Arthur Andersen in Melbourne, Sydney and Los Angeles.  Philip has worked on a number of successful corporate finance assignments across a diverse range of sectors including utilities, IT, financial services, food and agriculture.  In addition, he has been involved in numerous IPO engagements, valuations and venture capital related raisings. 

Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Tim Watson - Non Executive Director

Mr Watson is an accomplished executive with over 25 years experience in the Australian IT&T marketplace, including extensive experience in IT&T consulting.  Most recently, Mr Watson served as CEO of Activ Australia Pty Ltd, which Clever Communications Australia acquired in November 2006.  Prior to Activ, Mr Watson held the role of Australian Director of Sales & Marketing at Microsoft Australia.

Scott Carter - Managing Director & Executive Director

Mr Carter has over 15 years experience in the Australian telecommunications industry and has a strong track record in value creation.

After a decade with Hutchison Telecom where he worked with global brands like Orange and 3, Mr Carter joined Request Broadband, one of the first business-grade broadband providers in Australia.  As Director of Sales, he successfully combined his deep understanding of the dynamics of Australia's business telecommunications market with his experience in developing multi-channel sales strategies and within three years, he built up a successful business that led to the company's acquisition by Powertel Limited in 2004.  Following the acquisition, Mr Carter was promoted to the role of General Manager, Powertel Wholesale where he had responsibility for the overall strategy and growth of the $130M division.

Powertel was acquired by Telecom New Zealand in 2007 and Scott Joined Clever Communications Australia as Managing Director and Executive Director.
